C-FAR Research Focus Areas

At the C-FAR All-Working Group Meeting and Annual Meeting held in January and February 2006, research priorities were re-established for C-FAR's five research focus areas: expanding agricultural markets, rural economic development, agricultural production systems, human nutrition and food safety, and natural resources and environment. A description of each research focus area, including the objectives and subobjectives, follows.

  • Researchers are strongly encouraged to review this document in its entirety. Emphasis should be placed on subobjectives.

  • Subobjectives are not listed in prioritized order.
  • In many cases, specific priorities are provided under the subobjectives. Additional research proposals on related topics are welcome.

  • Researchers are encouraged to clearly communicate the likely and actual impacts of the research being proposed. Measures of impact are valuable and encouraged.

  • Researchers are encouraged to develop a dissemination plan to convey information and findings to the end users of the proposed research.
